#GO33 Birthday Party: With added Rob Wilkins!

May is Good Omens month, with the book celebrating its 33rd birthday on the 10th and the TV show turning 4 on the 31st.

Is that an excuse for a party? Well, it has been for the past three years, so we think so!

Join us, not only for games and chat with fellow fans on Zoom, but also…ROB WILKINS!!!

As we are sure many of you know, Rob Wilkins worked with Sir Terry Pratchett for more than twenty years, first as his personal assistant and later as his business manager. He now manages the Pratchett literary estate and Sir Terry’s production company, Narrativia. Rob has kindly agreed to join us to discuss the official biography of Sir Terry, “Terry Pratchett: A Life With Footnotes”, written by Rob and winner of the British Science Fiction Association Award for Best Non-Fiction. The Guardian says, “A new biography by the fantasy novelist’s longtime assistant provides a joyful and painful closeup of the irrepressible writer who made the absurd strangely convincing.” The hardback book is out now and the paperback will be released on 20th July 2023 (UK links and timelines!).

PLEASE NOTE: Rob will, understandably, not be able to answer any questions about Good Omens 2…no matter how much we want to ask them! Please help us to keep the chat on track by discussing wonderful memories of Sir Terry – and, as always, we are raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK in Sir Terry’s memory, throughout the evening.

We are hosting GO33 free of charge but have given the option when you register to choose a ticket price. Should you choose to pay for a ticket, all monies raised will go to Alzheimer’s Research UK. After hearing from the brilliant Rob Wilkins, we will turn to our equally brilliant quizmaster, Ella (@AppleSeedsGO) for what we think will be the FINAL GOOD OMENS 1 QUIZ! Get ready to score yourselves and play for fun as Ella poses the maddest, mystifying and most difficult questions yet!

Finally, if you would like to host a game, activity or chat room after hearing from Rob and playing along with Ella, you can share the details using this Google Form. Previously, we have hosted Cards Against Armageddon, Quiplash, Gartic Phone, Among Us and more…we’d be delighted to have your support in running a session!

Some points to note:

• Once you register for the event you’ll receive the Zoom link. You’ll also be able to find this information on the TIC website, via Account –> My Orders
• You will need Zoom v5.3.0 or later (on desktop or mobile devices) to full participate and to be able to move yourself between breakout rooms.
• Please note that our code of conduct applies, and we will remove anyone who breaches it.
• You can come and go as you like during the hours that the party is on: don’t worry if you can’t be there from the beginning.
• Some games may be easier to join in with if you have a second device, such as a phone, to play on.
• There will also be plenty of spare breakout rooms to chat with fellow fans (including a text only chat) or play impromptu games.
• You don’t have to turn on your camera and/or microphone if you don’t want to, and please respect everyone else’s choice in that regard.
