Crowley pushes open the door to the pub, unsure whether he is more eager for the next clue or for a glass of red… Surely, surely, he must be close to the end now?
He has to admit, though; this is a lot of fun. They have had many adventures, Aziraphale and him, across London, England, the world. But this? This is just between them and just for them. Crowley is starting to believe that it is not the winning, but the taking part that counts, that it’s the work Aziraphale has put into his search that counts… when he remembers he is, at heart, a demon. Bugger that. He wants to win.
Snatching up a wine list – he might as well have a glass or three whilst he works out the next clue – he sees a note attached:
My dear Crowley,
I thought you would probably need a little break by now, after running all over London, so do have a look at the wine list. I do wish I could join you, but all in good time. Please try to set a good example for the humans by respecting social distancing!
Yours, temptingly,
Aziraphale
