The Ineffable Con 7 will take return to the tranquil surroundings of Moor Hall in the Berkshire village of Cookham.

This venue offers us complete privacy and a huge variety of spaces, allowing us to all gather in one place, break into smaller groups, and have stunning backdrops for cosplay photos.

Accommodation

On-site accommodation is available at Moor Hall in en suite bedrooms. All rooms include a rainfall shower, iron, hairdryer, free WiFi, a TV and tea and coffee making facilities.

The “all inclusive” convention ticket includes two nights’ accommodation at Moor Hall on Friday and Saturday, with an optional Sunday night bookable with your ticket that includes dinner, bed and breakfast on Sunday.

Please be aware that the rooms are designed for the single business traveller, and as such are small and feature small double beds (4’6″ wide). You can share a room if you wish, but please be prepared to be very cosy! (For reference, your co-hosts shared a similar room for one night at TIC1 and ended up married…)

If you still wish to share, just book one ticket with double occupancy accommodation, and you will be asked the name of the person you are sharing with. The double occupancy room on Sunday includes a room for two, dinner on Sunday, and breakfast on Monday for two people, as this is not included in the convention ticket.

A short drive away is the town of Maidenhead with many more options for accommodation.

Checking in and out

Check-in opens at 3pm. If driving, you can stop at the main entrance to check in, and then move your car to the accommodation parking (behind the main car park) for easy access to your room.

Convention registration will be in the main bar from 4pm on the Friday.

Check-out is 11am if departing on Sunday and 10am on Monday. The convention venue has luggage storage facilities if needed, which you can use even if you are not staying on site.

Travel

By Road

The postcode for sat nav is SL6 9QH. Exit the M4 at Junction 7 for Maidenhead, turn left at the first roundabout and follow the A4 across the Thames. Turn right at the roundabout just over the bridge, and follow the road along the bank of the Thames. Stay on this road until you reach Cookham, and then turn left into School Lane, left again at the war memorial and right into the CIM Business Centre.

There is ample free parking at the back of the venue. If staying on site, you can park temporarily outside reception to check in and collect your room key, and then park in the accommodation parking behind the main visitor car park for easy access to your room.

By Public Transport to Maidenhead

The closest mainline railway station is Maidenhead. To find routes and tickets from your location to Maidenhead, we recommend using the National Rail website. We have listed details for some common routes below, or you can skip to public transport from Maidenhead to the convention.

There is no need to buy a ticket: you can use a contactless credit or debit card (including Apple/Google Pay) all the way from London to Cookham.

If you have a disability, you can request assistance using the Passenger Assist system. Note: we have recommended the Elizabeth Line where available, but Elizabeth Line trains do not have toilet facilities. If this is likely to present a problem for you, we recommend using alternative rail services to Maidenhead: Great Western Railway operates a service from London Paddington.

From Central London: take the Elizabeth line (main stops in Central London are Liverpool Street, Farringdon, Tottenham Court Road, Bond Street and Paddington) westbound to Maidenhead, and then follow the instructions below.

From Heathrow Airport: The Elizabeth line only goes Eastbound from Heathrow, so take the first train and change at Hayes & Harlington for a Westbound train to Maidenhead, then follow the instructions below.

From Gatwick Airport: Take a Thameslink train towards Central London and change at Farringdon for a Westbound Elizabeth Line train to Maidenhead. OR take a GWR train to Reading and change for an Eastbound Elizabeth Line train to Maidenhead (2 stops from Reading). Note that both of these options are faster than the Gatwick Express, which takes you into Victoria station.

From London City Airport: Take the DLR to Woolwich Arsenal and walk about 4 minutes to Woolwich Station. From there, take the Elizabeth Line westbound to Maidenhead.

Other Airports: Head into London using various public transport options available on arrival, and follow the instructions above for Central London.

By Public Transport from Maidenhead to Cookham and the Convention

Cookham is 7 minutes from Maidenhead by train. You can find train times and tickets on the National Rail website.

Arriving: On arrival, don’t forget to tap out on the yellow card reader at the platform exit if you have paid with Contactless.

The venue is a 10-15 minute walk from the station. Outside the station, cross the road to the Countrystore and turn right, following the main road towards Cookham village. Cross back over at the zebra crossing, and continue following the road until you see the white gate on the left. At this point you can continue along the footpath over the moor.

You will then see Moor Hall on the right hand side. There are footpaths cutting across the moor to the entrance, but if you have a lot of luggage you might prefer to continue to the end of the footpath and turn right into the main entrance.

Departing: On Sunday evening there is usually one train an hour departing Cookham towards Maidenhead, with the last service between 10pm and 11pm. On Monday morning, there are usually two trains per hour until 9am, and then one per hour.
